Rowing as a means of improving physical fitness in the blind

Title: Rowing to improve physical fitness in the blind Objectives: To investigate the effect of rowing training on physical fitness of blind persons and descriptions of a blind rower. Methods: Three probands, men aged 30-50 years, were selected for the research. To collect empirical measurement data, a set of EUROFIT-TEST battery tests and times recorded over 2 km on a rowing trainer were used, these data were provided by the rowing club Paprsek from Ústí nad Labem. Results: During the two-month rowing training, an improvement in the physical fitness of the blind rowers was noted. Testing using the EUROFIT-TEST battery and times recorded over a 2 km distance on the rowing machine showed that, with one exception, there is a correlation between these results. Conclusion: Rowing training can positively affect the physical fitness of blind rowers, and the correlation of these positive changes is also reflected in the times measured on the rowing machine (2 km distance). Social Work with Visually Impaired People

The aim of the bachelor thesis will be to describe examples of good practice from social work with the target group of visually impaired people. In my work, I will focus on the most common problem areas that the target group encounters and also on the possibilities of social work with this target group, as well as on social services working in the given area. As part of the practical part of the bachelor thesis, semi-directed interviews with social workers working with the given target group will be carried out in order to identify and describe examples of good practice from social work with visually impaired people.

Inteligentní navigace v objektech

This bachelor thesis deals with a device able to obtain data for the navigation of visually impaired people and pass this data to higher-level systems. The main part of the whole system is the mapping module "SLAMTEC Mapper M1M1". The measured data from the module are processed by custom application programmed in C++. The processed data are passed to higher-level systems using the CSV format. The thesis contains the design of the device, a description of implementation of the device and the programming of the custom application. The thesis contains a summary of final testing too.

Examination of the tactile perception of visually impaired pupils of older school-age through an assessment procedure called Tactual Profile

This diploma thesis is focused on the problematics of examination of tactile perception in older school-age pupils with severe visual impairment. The thesis has got three main parts. The first part deals with tactile perception, defines its main characteristics, properties and obstacles associated with tactile perception. It also deals with the role of touch in the life of pupils with visual impairment. A large part of this chapter focuses on the description of orientation aids for visually impaired students. In conclusion, there are mentioned the diagnostic instruments by which the tactile perception is judged. The second part deals with the Tactual Profile observation instrument. There is a detailed description of its purpose and use and there are also mentioned foreign studies on this instrument of Dutch origin. The practical part includes the study of the level of tactile perception in school-aged pupils with visual impairment through the Tactual Profile test. The aim of this diploma thesis is to determine the functionality and usability of this test material (Tactual Profile) in praxis in the given age group of pupils and students with visual impairment. Dancing with the Eyes of the Blind

This diploma thesis is focused on issues of dance in relation to blind people. The goal of the thesis is to find out how to compensate for a blind person's lack of visual perception through dance. A secondary goal is to explore what dance means to blind people. The research is based on theoretical solutions obtained by analysis of available sources and based on research using qualitative strategies. To fulfill the research task, techniques of participant observation and interviews were used. From the data obtained through semi-structured interviews and observation of blind respondents in the framework of dance events, it has been found that dance is an effective form of stimulation and development of the compensatory senses of blind people. Most significantly dance influenced the participants' perception of their bodies, developing their capabilities and ability to respond to internal and external stimuli. The results of other interviews show that all blind participants have experience with dance. This experience is overwhelmingly positive. The survey confirms the importance of dance for blind people in the planes of their physical, mental and social faculties.
